Care has an everyday vocabulary. Have you eaten? Sit for a while. Take some with you. The words can seem so ordinary that we spend years hearing only their practical meaning.
Then a day comes when we would give anything to hear them again. We recognise the attention folded inside them: someone keeping a small place in the world ready for our arrival. That welcome does not easily leave us.
